It doesn't feel like Fall here in Florida, but that doesn't mean we can't pretend. Right?
Fall to me used to mean the colors of the leaves changing on the trees, sweatshirts, and bonfires. Now, it's different. There's not many opportunities for "sweater weather" and the leaves don't change. But I still try to decorate my house in Fall colors and wear sweaters every chance I get - It gets really cold in the A/C!
The big thing to make right now, is pumpkins. So I have been making a lot of those nonstop. I also purchased a knitting machine from Loops and Threads - I almost didn't because I thought it would be considered cheating, but it makes life as a maker so much easier. I can make a beanie in about 30 minutes instead of 3 hours. Talk about time management. So I've been making a lot of beanies as well using a pattern from Taylor Lynn Crochet - She is one of my favorite makers to get patterns from, advice, and everything in between. You should definitely check her out.
I've also been trying to come up with new ideas to have in stock that's different than what everyone else has. It's really hard to hold inventory, especially in Florida, that is crochet or knit. Most people interpret it as cold weather items, but I'm trying to break that norm by making things that are wearable all year round.
What do you like about the Fall? Do you live in cold weather, or warm like me? Do you still go pumpkin picking, drink cider, and venture to haunted houses or corn mazes? Me too! Although, I don't think I've ever been pumpkin or apple picking, but definitely want to. Maybe this year!
Let me know if you have any ideas of what you want to see me make for you!
Until then, happy Fall ya'll!!-
- Veronica
